The Aedes Aegypti mosquito — primary vector of Dengue and Chikungunya — is a daytime biter. It is most active one hour after sunrise and one hour before sunset. This puts it squarely in the outdoor social hours — when guests dine, when children play, and when families gather in gardens.

Conventional solutions rely on synthetic pyrethroid sprays that kill insects on contact. The problem: they also kill beneficial pollinators, contaminate topsoil, and leave toxic residues in spaces where children and pets spend time. There is a better way.

The Mechanism

How garlic oil disrupts mosquito CO₂ sensors.

Mosquitoes locate human hosts primarily by detecting carbon dioxide exhaled during breathing. Specialised sensory neurons in the maxillary palp — a facial organ of the mosquito — respond to CO₂ gradients, guiding the insect toward its target from distances of 30 metres or more.

The Garlic Oil Mechanism

Garlic oil's active sulphur compounds — principally allicin, diallyl disulfide (DADS), and diallyl trisulfide (DATS) — interact with the olfactory receptor neurons responsible for CO₂ detection. The result is chemosensory disruption: mosquitoes lose the ability to orient toward CO₂ gradients. Without this navigational ability, they leave the treated area entirely.

Critically, the mechanism is not lethal. Mosquitoes are not killed — they are simply unable to locate you. This is important for ecological integrity: beneficial insects such as bees and butterflies do not rely on CO₂ sensing for navigation and are unaffected.

Result: All 64 compounds — Non-Detectable (ND). The product contains zero synthetic pesticide residues, confirming its 100% herbal formulation claims.

What We'll Tell You Honestly

Garden Pleasure® does not kill mosquitoes — it repels them by disrupting their ability to locate humans. This is intentional. We believe a non-lethal mechanism is ecologically sounder than contact insecticides.

Efficacy duration (7 days) is based on field observations in normal Indian weather conditions. Heavy rainfall or daily overhead irrigation can reduce efficacy — in high-rainfall periods, reapplication every 5 days is advisable.

Our product works best as part of an integrated outdoor strategy: eliminate standing water, treat the lawn consistently, and apply at the start of each week during dengue season.
